Oh, hello. Sorry. I just got right into it, didn’t I. Anyway. This episode of How Was Your Week is so exciting, none of us can handle it.

As mentioned, DAVID SEDARIS is on the show to discuss his new book LET’S EXPLORE DIABETES WITH OWLS, and to surprise Julie with the revelation that HE has questions for HER! That’s right! David Sedaris is a fan of this very podcast! I know. I know. So, once that fact is dealt or not dealt with, David and Julie have lots to talk about. Eating steak during signings, renting cats with poopy butts, reading books about pederasty, writing about doing it, and having the good fortune to be friends with David Rakoff.

Also: Julie counts down to the Liberace movie, contemplates the new crop of network shows, briefly mourns Dr. Joyce Brothers, explains the source of her recent panic attack, speculates about Al Pacino’s headspace, and directs young men who wish to be sexy toward Don Draper’s hotel room shenanigans.

If you missed our movie’s premiere NYC screenings, guess what? You have one more chance to see it live, in the theatre, and laugh your head off with a bunch of other comedy fans. And believe me, laugh you will! I have been to the previous screenings, and laughing is what audiences do when they see this peach of a movie.

But you don’t have to take my Check out what extremely nice guy Dan Gurewitch said about the movie:

It takes a clever hook (the members of a comedy group each write 15 pages of a feature film, only privy to the previous writer’s last 5 pages, and the movie intercuts between the resulting hodgepodge film and interviews with the writers), and spins it into a hilarious, touching look at the trials and tribulations of friendship, creativity and collaboration. It’s funny on a ton of levels, from immediate to super-meta.

But more than that, it perfectly and genuinely explores the process of working creatively with friends when you’re young and your intense passion is rivaled only by your relative inexperience. It made me nostalgic for the years I spent in my college improv group, bonding with best friends and engaging in hyper-opinionated disagreements without a clear leader or direction, but with boundless enthusiasm.

It’s a real feat of creative editing, charming and engaging. You’ll love it, especially if you’ve ever made stuff with friends. Congrats to everyone involved, and everyone else, do yourself a favor and check it out.
